I teach English 20-1, 20-2, 20-4, as well as English 30-1 and 30-2  at George McDougall High School

Welcome to my page!

My name is Brooke Grosh, and I have been teaching at George McDougall High School for six years. Prior to joining the Mustangs, I taught at Chestermere High School for three years. While working with Rocky View School Division, I have had the opportunity to teach at every level of English Language Arts offered at both high schools; however, I specialize in the senior level English courses.

My lessons are student-centred and I encourage learners to explore their own interests in each text, further enhancing their own understanding. I believe it's important to differentiate my instruction to appeal to the multiple types of learners in each class, as well as vary the methods students can use to showcase their knowledge. My classroom does not always follow the traditional model; however, there are some lessons that require simple instruction and practice.

I believe that it is important to assist students in their learning and support them as they venture into each text. Through out each semester, students will be given multiple opportunities to complete mini-projects, which will showcase their learning and newfound understanding. Since some of the courses I teach have a 30% Diploma exam at the end of the semester, I place a great deal of focus on critical thinking, writing skills, and reading comprehension.

At the start of every year, we welcome grade 12 students into our classes, and at the end of every year we get to see them walk the stage. Throughout the year, I look forward to celebrating in the students' learning and assisting them in achieving success!
