I teach FLA 90, Etudes Sociales 90 & 20, Social Studies 90 and Exploratory 90 at George McDougall High School

Hello, Bonjour and thank you for taking the time to check out my home page!

I am Mlle or Ms. Power and I'm thrilled to be teaching at George McDougall this year! This is my second year at GMHS and I'm very excited to be back working with such an amazing faculty team.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in French Language and Literature from the University of Calgary, and my Bachelor of Education from the University of Lethbridge. Over the years I have been able to spend time as a student in four different universities, including the University of Tours, France.

I am very passionate about language and linguistics, and am so fortunate to be working in a school with a strong Immersion program. I am also very passionate about the arts, including dramatic arts and all things pertaining to theatre. I try to immerse different interests (not only my own) into the curriculum to make it more interesting and more relevant to students.

I believe that all students are capable of learning, if at different rates or in different ways. It's my goal to work with students to find what way they learn best; Education should not be a battle, but a manageable challenge. I believe in inspiring curiosity and wonder in all students is not only possible, but necessary to build life-long learners. I was lucky enough to have educators who believed the same thing which makes me the learner I am today. My classroom will always be a safe, positive environment that encourages self-discovery and growth. Learning does not only take place in my classroom, however; learning also takes place at home and in the community, therefore I love seeing and hearing parents who are involved in their students education. You are your child's strongest asset outside of the school walls. I believe that, as much as I have to teach my students, they have just as much to teach me.
